If you are trying to get x for the first problem:
You would minus 5y to the other side so your new equation would be:
-x=-5y-16 Then you divide by -1 on both sides so the answer would be:
x=5y+16
If you are trying to find y for the first equation:
You add x to get:
5y=-16+x
Then you divide 5 from both sides to get the answer:
y=-16/5 + X/5
To get x for the second equation:
You minus 7y to get a new equation:
-3x=-8-7y
Then you divide by -3 on both sides to get the answer of:
x=-8/-3-7y/-3
To get y for the second equation:
You add 3x to both sides for a new equation of:
7y=-8+3x
Then you divide by 7 on both sides to get an answer of:
y=-8/7+3x/7
